]baud is a roguelike set in the 1980's, a homage to the home computer-based hacking/cracking/phreaking/bbs culture of that time period. In this game, you are a hacker and your mission is to break into corporate mainframes, defeat their security, steal their data and attempt to to build your rep in the hacker community!  

Features in the upcoming early alpha test release :

• ASCII based roguelike complete with permadeath, turn-based strategy, grid-based movement and procedural generation of maps and characters
• Uses a deck-building system for hacking.  You can collect new warez by hack processes or trading stolen data on the Pirate BBSes. 
• Characters use the same deckbuilding semantics for hacking other NPCs offering an ability for the player to learn, but at the same time the AI is learning from the player offering progressively more challenging gameplay as their ability increases. 
• 1980s trivia questions at each codebreaking access point, with more to come; for those of the era to relive that time, and others to learn some new fun facts from an important part of retro history.

Future features that will be a part of the paid release:

• New missions ("Mainframes") with various themes to keep game content fresh.
• A variety of procedurally generated map layouts representing different parts of each Mainframe. 
• New NPC elements to further enhance the strategic options in the game including Copy Protection (takes and protects loot) and Viruses (chaotic processes on the Mainframe)
• New deckbuilding content ("functions" for hacking and "subroutines" for special abilities) 

The game will be available for download for single-player on Windows and MacOS.

A note about the downloads below:

We ask you to remember that the releases below are EARLY ALPHA releases and represent an incomplete game. It is missing content; there will be bugs; balances in areas will be out of whack. We are excited about providing these early releases for those that are interested in providing feedback, but if you would prefer to enjoy the game when it is complete, you may wish to wait for the full DEMO that will be coming in 2022.
